Can anyone recommend a good hotel in Florence?

Question

I have stayed previously at the hotel Jane, but it is fully booked the time I wish to travel.

I have searched on venere and have found many hotels in my price range, £40-60 per night. I have narrowed my selection down to 6, but none of them seem to have the wow factor.

Personal recommendations would be very welcome

I like the hotel Duomo a lot, but it's a bit above your price range. However, one place that I have stayed that might be in your range is the Hotel Bigallo in the Piazza del Duomo right next to the Duomo. some of the rooms have a great view of the church and Piazza. http://www.venere.com/hotels/florence/ho…

Hey I stayed in a hotel called villa fiesole hotel when I was in there last, it was really well placed and had fantastic views, if you want more information then have a look on the Gekko website (http://gekko.com) where I first came across it and it will probably give you a much better description than I could. Also there are a great range of hotels on the website so if this one doesn't sound like your cup of tea then Gekko will match your personal preferences to other suitable hotels. I'm not sure the price range, but while I was in Florence I had some family staying in Hotel La Residenza on Via Tornabuoni. They enjoyed it very much and it's a central location to just about the entire center of Florence, especially Piazza Republica and Piazza della Signoria, and walking distance to the San Lorenzo market, the Central Market, and the Ponte Vecchio.
