Brazil is left leaning. Quite dangerous in some cities. The rest are O.K. In Central America: I recommend Panama, and Costa Rica.
Since it is a world trip I´ll give you some more tips. England and Scotland are great. France, Garbage. Spain, smoke filled, everyone smokes including babies. Portugal, great people, friendly and helpful.
Italy, the Police are friendly, so are many of the people, however; there are many who are experts at picking your pocket, or stealing your purse. Vatican City, beautiful. Watch for people who steal your purse or wallet. Dominican Republic. Dirty. The people are nice. Mexico, Dangerous. Canada lovely especially North of Toronto. Thunder Bay, Timmons are beautiful. Unless you know the language, people in South America will charge you twice or three times as much as a native pays. Example: Taxi from the Airport to Medellin is 50,000 pesos or about $ 22.00 U.S. This price includes tolls. Tips are not expected. A taxi driver tried to charge me 100,000 pesos. He was angry that I was a resident, and only got 50,000. By the way I speak Spanish, not great, but passable.
