How is this london hotel?

Question

im staying at the strand palace hotel very close to covent garden as a treat for my brothers graduation which will be at the dorchester, i was just wondering if the strand is as poor as many reviews state it is as in the website it looks very nice?
im looking foward to the weekend but now feel i might be dissapointed with the hotel im staying in and then will have to pretend to enjoy it to my parents.

Strand palace is fine, just don't be to overly expectant.

Not the best. Many years ago it was part of The Forte Group and was a top hotel. It was sold off to other groups and it went downhill fast. It is badly in need of a refurb. You will find it a big drop down from The Dorchester. The bit of good news is The Carvery - it is really excellent. I take customers there, just for the Carvery - but NOT to stay.

Not the best, but a great location and a very interesting building with classic art nouveau/ deco (never can remember). Also one of the biggest in london at 1000rms + so i'm sure the reviews vary a lot!
