How far is the centre of Melbourne from the main international airport?

I am going to Melbourne in October and our hotel is in the city centre, we wondered how far from the airport it is to travel, if a taxi or maybe the public transport system would be best

About half an hour if you are lucky and get a taxi driver that knows what he is doing!! lol....and if you don't, add on at least another 15 minutes!
There is also a sky bus that is available as well.....more than likely that is your cheapest option as well.

Either way Taxi or public transport, it depends on cost and convenience.

Some say that you have to be careful with getting a "Problem" taxi driver, and you are better getting a Limo service, but I don't know myself.

A taxi should take you along the freeway/Citilink tollway, so expect to pay the toll fare as well.

The Skybus Shuttle is the easiest way to get into Melbourne city. There is a ticket office and bus stop right outside the International Terminal Arrivals Hall - easy to find as it's bright red - and this will take you to Southern Cross Station in Spencer Street. From here you can transfer to another Skybus which will take you to your hotel for no extra cost. Just ask either the ticket seller or driver about this. The trip from Tullamarine Airport to the city takes around 20 minutes.

Be careful with Melbourne taxi drivers, they rarely know where they are going! Either book a limo service or catch the skybus
