Michael means a lot to me. I grew up listening to his music and I've always appreciated him as a person. Michael reminds me of my childhood memories. When I was a kid, I was a big fan. I remember how I was keen on collecting his photos and searching for his albums which were released before I was born. I used to keep any magazine articles written about him. His posters were hung on every wall in my room and I used attack people giving negative comments about him.

Concerning the way his songs affected me, "Earth Song" has affected me to great extent. This song motivated me to try do anything to participate in protecting the environment . So, as a kid, I refused to throw any garbage in the street, unlike many other kids, just because Michael was an idol to me, though "Earth Song" is not about environmental problems of that sort. I just wanted to have any positive contribution to the environment out of my love for Michael. Now, as an adult, I am still keen on protecting the environment as much as I can just because it has become a habit thanks to Michael and because I am convinced that I am doing the right thing.

I almost stopped listening to Michael about five years ago and started to become interested in rock music though he was still one of my favourite singers. However, I don't know why I remembered him suddenly a few days before his death. I just felt that I have this urge to listen to him and kept on replaying "Give In to Me" again and again. I also watched many other songs like "They Don't Care About Us," "Man in the Mirror," "One Day in Your Life" and "Billie Jean." Such strange coincidence makes it harder for me to overcome the sadness I feel. Michael was and will always be a great artist. May his soul rest in peace.

Well, I loved Michael Jacksons music but thats as far as it goes.
I wasn't exactly a huge fan, I'm too young, but I have always loved his music and know the lyrics to a few of his songs - as most people do.



what a sad time it is for everyone - not just his fans, yes he was eccentric, and did things the wrong way, but no one can take away the fact that he was a TRUE LEGEND, and a genius. Sleep tight Micheal, you will be deeply missed by millions

I was 8 when Thriller came out and it was a cultural phenomenon like I have yet to see again. Michael Jackson is THE reason I started listening to music. There was Elvis, the Beatles and Michael Jackson........what those artists did will never be replicated.

Michael meant absolutely EVERYTHING to me. I cannot believe that of all people in the world, it had to be him that went. I love him so so so much and I will never stop. Ever.

He inspired to go for my dreams, to keep the faith, to try hard, to reach for the sky. Michael will live on forever in my heart. He inspired me and changed my life, nobody will ever know just how much.

Michael is now free from all the nasty tabloids and the media.

Rest in Peace Michael. I will see you when I get to Heaven.

Nothing.
Yes, he was very talented, and a musical legend, but I didn't know him. There are more important people in my life than pop stars I've never met. It's scary how obsessed people are with celebrities. Claiming that they're going to miss them terribly and they meant so much to them. To be honest I find it rather offensive towards the family and friends of these people, the ones who have actually lost someone.

While I was never a die-hard fan, I really appreciate everything he did for music and was a very talented, misunderstood individual. I find he's death very shocking and it is still taking a while to sink in, I think everybody will miss this man and it is definately one of these "remember where you were" moments.

he was and will always be my all time favorite artist. I got my nickname Wacko because of him! =) I've been crying non-stop since I heard of him passing away. I was getting his tickets for my 19th birthday present- it was my dream to go and see him in concert since I was little.

I loved the Jackson 5 - I am only a year older than MJ so remember the very beginnings.

His music will live on ... Billie Jean, Bad, Thriller and the haunting "She's out of my life" - such classics. Much better than the dross you hear now! Like the Beatles and the Stones, he has influenced many singers/songwriters.

As a person he was extremely confused and I believe he was badly advised throughout his life.

I always found him as one of life's intriguing characters. He possessed a hell of a lot of talent at both singing and songwriting which he showed with a lot of heart and soul.

He also had a life that was one that although on the outset seemed to be a life that was completely out of touch with reality, but was actually fraught with much hardship and difficultly which left him deprived of many of life's simple pleasures.

Nothing. His songs were vapid and boring. He didn't write any of them anyway. He had very little talent and he wasn't the king of anything except his own deluded little world. His life would make a good movie, however. It would be a lot more interesting than his music.

I loved all of them. We all know he has had his ups and downs in the past, but we all need to forget about the downs and focus on the ups. He has produced the best selling album of all time 'Thriller'

I just think it’s a shame he felt he had to change his colour and image until it got to the final state it was in.

Never considered myself a fan but I didn't realise how much I liked his music until they kept playing it on the radio this morning and i knew every word!!

I think he had a hard life, being thrust into the public eye at such a young age. He will be greatly missed in music. RIP MJ!

Everyone on CNN is telling me to remember him as a great talent. And I will remember him as such; I will remember him as a great talent that molested children. I know that his great music is the only thing that I can prove about him. But I just can't sweep something like child molestation under a metaphorical rug. But Beat It is an awesome song.
