have been to mercure hotel in luxor, hotel is lovely, really enjoyed, luxor is only good to spend a few nights, do sights n if u get a chance do nile cruise, which is woderful, i would not spent 13 nights in luxor. As we travelled to red sea it was magic, quad bikes are brilliant, a must is camel ride during sunset, i would recommend staying more nights at red sea, try going to hotel all inclusive which is great value with children i hope this is some help to u,

if I were you I'd spend a little longer in Cairo (more to see & do): pyramids at Giza, camel-riding, the main market, shopping for the girls. Don't stay overnight in Hurghada (no culture, tacky), just spend the whole day there to go scuba-diving or whatever then drive back to Luxor.

Your plan sounds good though; you should go around the villages and along the Nile, meet people, drink some cocktails etc. lol

Hi great trip but a site seeing trip, the two children will probably get bored with all[don't know their age] the visits to temple etc, Sites and sound in luxor a good evening out, Why fly back should make trip in sequence so you don't over lap visits [fly into one move out and fly out another, good holidays John PS money is what you want spend and afford.

Just done Egypt. My choice was to base at Sharm. Good for relaxing. Good base for short internal flights to Cairo (1 hr), Pyramids and Spinx. Also a short flight, (1/2 hr) from luxor. See the temples of Luxor and Karnack, also the valley of the Kings.

ok think i told you some of this before but......
to attempt to do the east and west bank of luxor in one day is, I suspect impossible and i would not advise it especially at this time of the year. I would recommend the west bank, the valley of the kings, and Hatsheput followed by valley of the queens, or the nobles or the workman and if you still want more then go to the Ramesseum and Medinet Habu but honestly i don't think you will manage more than three places maximum.
try doing the temple of Karnak and luxor on the west bank on another day.
day 6 i don't really understand why you want to go to qena as you have already visited dendara the day before, unless you want to visit the mosque, the luxor museums should be enough anyway.
day 10 you have written edfu or Thebs which i think you mean thebes thebes is the ancient greek name for luxor. edfu though has a stunning temple but its a long trip.
Finally the total cost for all these visits is going to be high. You can organise a local taxi which will be cheaper but there will be no air conditioning.
i hope this is of some help.
