Advanced rate booking hotel problem?

Hi ,booked a room with advanced rate for the Michael jackson concert ,now date of concert was changed so asked the hotel to change booking .They said due to the circumstances they would change it but it would be 40 extra,i asked them to hold on a while as i wasnt sure if it would be changed again.I emailed them and they just told me there are no rooms left(i checked they do just at even higher price).Anyone any advice ,i know i should have accepted the change when they offered but was afriad concert would be changed again.Ineed some help regarding my rights to a refund or to pay the 40 extra they said.Thanks

just cancel your booking altogether, there are hundreds of hotel rooms that would love your business. as long as you have given them notice you should be ok but you must check the hotel website to see what their policy on cancellations are. also if you paid with your credit card i think you would be ok for a refund there.

That's one of the gotchas, you got a cheap rate on a commitment to no refund. Of course they have a charge to change the night as they make money, but the small print will no doubt preclude a refund.

Honestly i do not have idea on how to refund such a change . as far as i know you could just coordinate with the organizer of this concert they could help you in your concern.
