How is this justified? What do you think?

I have been looking for quotes for a holiday this year, and comparing the prices for one week or two.

I came across this on the Thomson website.

7 nights 3* all inclusive at Sur Menorca hotel, Punta Prima, Menorca, 26 August - 2 September total price for 2 adults including all supplements - £1360.00
--------------------------------------…
14 nights 3* all inclusive at Sur Menorca hotel, Punta Prima, Menorca, 26 August - 9 September total price for 2 adults including all supplements - £1388.00
--------------------------------------…

There is only £28 difference for 1 week or 2, at exactly the same hotel, on exactly the same dates, from exactly the same airport!!

What do you think? Not that I'm complaining, because we want to go for 2 weeks and I was just seeing if it would be any cheaper to go for a week (clearly not).

Because the kids go back to school in EARLY September, so most people need to be back home before about the 5th!

Incentive, because fewer people can take two weeks at a time, than those who can simply take one.

OR: it could be a typo, which when you look again, will be fixed, because ONE person got in on it...

OR: it could be a crappier/smaller room. Or one with a lesser view or noisier...or not on the best floor.

OR: the first week is high season, and by the second week, it's shoulder! THAT makes a HUGE difference! Because in high season (when people from the entire Northern Hemisphere are on vacation, cause their kids aren't in school) vs. Shoulder season, when the children are starting to go back to school, and parents need to get home to buy school supplies, etc....THAT makes a HUGE difference in prices!

Seems like a minor difference to you, because you don't have children...TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT!!!!

This is fairly standard, the highest cost is going to generally be your travel, flights, supplements & taxes, etc... The hotel is cheaper over two weeks, because although All inclusive, there will be things not included, ie. non spanish beers, spirits, etc.. and they make good money on these even more so over two weeks.

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

over 1000€ for the Sur Menorca... DON'T GO !! I use to live NEAR the hotel... my grandparents still live with-in 5 minutes...

there is NO way on earth it is worth over 500€.... WITH FOOD AND FLIGHTS !

read some reviews on Trip-Advisor.... if it say's it's NEAR the beach... it's a lie... look on Google Earth... it's NOT in Punta Prima...
The hotel is in Cala Biniancolla
Punta Prima beach is about 1 km away - all the beaches near the hotel are rocks

There is a "train" to Punta Prima, but you have to pay

but to answer your question, I've heard this many times before. Usually for around October though ! But I'm sure it's because it's more simple for the hotel if they have one set of people.

I've heard mixed reviews about food in the Hotel. I've heard it's a lot nicer in the Winter than Summer.
if you walk down to Biniancolla, there's a great Pizza place on the "beach"... which is rock or if you take the walk to Punta Prima, the first building you see on the Hotel side of the road is a bar. their Menu del Día is great, and their food is AMAZING !
theres also a nice place to eat in Punta Prima (For lunch) ON the beach - I've forgot it's name but it's that only one that is ON the beach

    Source(s):

I lived in Menorca until 2002 - this is the area's I grew up in

    - as much as I say travel to Menorca it is a great place for families or to relax... this hotel is NOT worth 500€ per-person
You can rent a villa for 500€... and it won't cost you 500€ in food - and you can easily get flights from the U.K for under 300€ for two people (Return)
