Non refundable dep of 100pct of stay req at time of booking - what does this mean/?

Hello, due to stay at a hotel in Vienna and found this policy does this mean I will be charged double the rate shown/

You will pay a deposit at the time of booking. This deposit is 100% of room stay. This will not be refunded if you need to cancel or do not show up. You will not be charged again for the room stay if you do use the room.

It sounds like the same policy as hotels here in US. Basically it means when you book, they want you to pay for the room upfront (100% deposit). If you cancel your trip, you will not get a refund. Normally the way it works is you call, make reservations, and they ask you for a credit card. They then charge the amount of the room immediately. So it will be pre-paid. But if you cancel your trip, you wont get a refund.

To me it means when you book it, you pay in full i.e. 100%

and that should you cancel , you will not be due any refund
