The Royal National is used majorly by schools and international exchange companies as a place for children on trips whilst visiting the UK. I have never actually been, but the TripAdvisor reviews are not doing it any favours.
As a student yourself, you might enjoy it as most of these reviews are writen by older people who are looking for a hotel that is not noisy, full of children and basic. Don't let stupid reviews put you off though, its all just opinion.
