Dallas - July travel?

Planning to stay for a week in Dallas (Fairmont Hotel) - Is this a "touristy" area and is a week long enough/too long ??

I think a week will be long enough. The Fairmont is in downtown Dallas and although there are some tourist attractions in downtown, except for The West End, which is restaurants, bars, music, the downtown area is dead after work hours when everyone heads back to the suburbs. In the Metroplex there is just as much to see and do in the suburbs as there is in either the city of Dallas or Ft Worth. Public transportation goes into some suburbs, but not all and unfortunately there is no public transportation from Dallas to Ft Worth. To get to a lot of the things you'll want to see you'll need to rent a car.

Just be warned that July is VERY hot and can be humid. Even long after the sun has gone down it will be warm. Walking very much isn't something you will want to do because you will be a sweaty mess after 3 blocks.
The Fairmont (great hotel with 5 star dining and service) is close to the Arts District and the Dallas World Aquarium. The West Village, Uptown, the Crescent Court and McKinney Avenue are close by and they offer dining and shopping options.
Like the other person said, downtown is dead after 5pm and on the weekends.
1 week will be enough to do whatever it is you want to do.

I GO to dallas every single year, i should be there now, but i have exams so i am going in summer. From experience, if it is your first time you will love it, but really its kind of boring. A week is fine, i usually stay for 2. But i heard in summer it is EXTREMELY HOT!! take sunscreen!!!!!!!
