Will it be safe to travel on my own in Tunisia this April?

I am a single male in my mid thirties and reasonably fit.

The next bit is not so important -
I am going to Sousse for two weeks and want to visit Tunis & the north by bus & train. I also want to see the area where Star Wars was filmed etc. I will have a small digicam and i was thinking of wearing a full brim hat (so, i'll stand out).
I also like to occasionally come back to my hotel late after a long day trip and i even like to sit on the beach in the evening (dark) for a while. ???

Crowkit sounds like a testosterone junky.

I never seem to get a good answer, but Magige did ok, i guess; apart from assuming that i will be flaunting my camera. Why would i do that?!
Magige - i don't want to stand out. It is a desert area - duh! Hence the wide hat.

OK, i do use my camera a lot (it is digital). Sometimes, i am constantly taking photos. But some people there ask for money if u take their pic.
Also - who never wanted to sit on a beach in the evening? I guess you dicks are drinking at the bar most of the time.
I'll take a chance, the hotel is near the beach anyway. I won't do it for long, tho.

ok i'm a women who travels alone to/from/inside tunisia. it's very safe. i take loads of pictures,as do the tunisians around me. just refrain from taking pictures of people without asking(as in any country) as for the beach, its a cold april, so bundle up, and i'd stay away from private beaches as there are wild dogs around(and may not be that safe at night because of theft).as for standing out, the hat might get you that!(baseball caps are on everyones head.) lol, the places you want to go are tourist places, you won't stand out. i think you should have a great time, enjoy your trip. any more questions, just ask!

Have you ever taken a few dinars into the country. I hope £15 will not be too much. I don't think it is allowed.
I'm going to that El Hana Hotel in Sousse (lol)!

You're a man in your mid 30's. What did you get your balls removed when you were a kid?

I've trekked through north Iran (without permission, or a penny to my name) travelled around most of south America and seen all of Europe and the USA.

North Africa is a tourist destination.

When I saw the title to this question, I was expecting a question from a young female!

Tunisia is very safe. Simply exercise the usual caution as you would in your own home place.

Might be an idea to lose the 'full brim hat' though! Why would you want to stand out? And if you flaunt your digicam, well some might read it as a sign on your forehead saying 'ROB ME..I'M A TOURIST!

I don't think sitting on the beach in the dark is wise!

Do the local people wear a 'full brim hat'?
Always best to dress low key and not to advertise the fact that you are a tourist! I made reference to your digicam because you did! Stand by saying, on your own on the beach when it's dark could be asking for trouble.
Am female and many years ago I travelled through many Asian countries on my own, and to places where I was the only 'whitey'. The only reason I made reference to your digicam, is because you did. I always excersised common sense. Thankfully I only have nice experiences to recall.
