I am going to Toronto early July, and wish to visit Niagara Falls.?

There are two available tours to choose from. Niagara in the daytime (pick up from hotel 9am and arrives back to hotel approx 5pm), or Niagara in the evening (pick up from hotel at 1pm and arrives back to hotel approx 9.30pm). Would it be better to see Niagara at night when it is illuminated and has fireworks (and see some daytime), or would it be better to just experience Niagara in the daytime only? Has anyone been who can advise? Thanks! ;-)

Additional Details

Sorry, just noticed that the evening tour leaves Toronto at 1pm and it is a 9.5 hours length tour. Assume that means getting back to Toronto by 10.30pm then. Would I get to see Niagara before dark? I'm not from Canada so unsure on when it starts to get dark in the summer.

Also wondered if there would be much to do in Toronto on Canadian Holiday on 1st July. Will anything be open?

niagara falls is beautiful no matter what time in the day it is. But i would try to see the falls both times b/c you get a different view. In the day you can see the mist and do alot of the tours. In the night, the fireworks and the lights on the falls is absolutely stunning. Try to do both if you can. You can just drive up with your car and see it at night but i would try to do the tours in the day. In july especially canada day there is lots going on. Toronto is always fun no matter when you go in the summer. there's lots to do. the sun starts to go down at about 845pm in the summer and it gets dark at about 945pm. On Canada day alot of things are closed mostly government and businesses. Most shopping malls are open but usually close early. The bars and restuaturants are usually open too.

Personally I would pick night time, I don't know how old you are but there is the casino, and a street of horror houses and wax museums' to me it's more fun at night.

Night time is best, I have been to both, I will not tell to much as it will spoil it for you. night time you have both day light and dark. with the display, and other things going on at night. you will have a great time

anytime is good, but the lights are spectacular on the falls at night, make sure you go on the "maid of the mist" boat tour, it's awesome, plus it won't get dark until 9:00 pm in July

Go with the evening one. Here are the advantages:

-you won't have traffic getting from Toronto to Niagara Falls
-It can be really hot and humid in July, if you go later in the day it won't be as bad.

1 thing though, I'm sorry to tell you but you won't see the falls at night. To be back in Toronto for 9:30 pm you'll have to leave Niagara Falls at 8 pm at the latest and it won't be dark yet. But never fear, it's really nice during the day anyways.

If you're set on seeing the falls at night and during the day, consider asking the tour company if they can drop you off the first day and pick you up the next. Book a hotel in Niagara Falls and make it a 2 day excursion.

One last thing: Check with the casino to see if they run a shuttle from Toronto to Niagara Falls. If they do, you'll only have to pay a few dollars and then they'll give you free chips to play at the casino. It will be cheaper than the tour company for sure. The two casinos are called Casino Niagara and Fallsview Casino. I've added their websites below.

Have a great time in Toronto/Niagara Falls!!
