I've seen it, stayed at another hotel nearby. It's a 5-10 minute walk from Victoria train/tube station, or across Buckingham Palace Road from bus terminal. There are no buses along here, it is a side road. Can't tell you how far from Gatwick, I think it is a fair way from O2, but you will be near the tube and buses.
There are some shops in an adjacent street, but I guess that isn't the type of shops you are asking about (although there is a small Tesco's). Again, Regent St and Oxford St are only a short tube/bus ride away.
There are always a lot of taxis around, being so near such a large transport terminal.

it's irrelevant how many miles it is ... what matters is the transport connections ... have a look at the underground map

the hotel is half way between Victoria and Pimlico underground stations ... trains from Gatwick come into Victoria mainline station so that makes it very easy to get to (although you might want to get a taxi from Victoria to your hotel on arrival if you've got a lot of luggage) ... to get to the O2 you need to get to North Greenwich station on the Jubilee line, which means you would get the Victoria line from either Victoria or Pimlico to Green Park and interchange onto the Jubilee line ... shopping is not a problem, there's shops all over London ... one of the bigger shopping areas is Oxford Street (Victoria line again to Oxford Circus)

I always use tripadvisor to check on hotels before I book. Basically you will open the door and hit the bed but fine if you don't want to spend too much time in your room.

Perfect for Gatwick - get on the Gatwick Express to London Victoria and then walk or take a black cab - about 5 mins.

The O2 - well nothing is near there as it's in Greenwich in the middle of nowhere but - take the Victoria Line to Green park and change for Jubilee Line Eastbound to North Greenwich. As long as your concert finishes before midnight, you can get home using the tube.

Shopping - Main shops are on Oxford Street - from Victoria go to Oxford Circus on the Victoria Line.
