Does a ps3 play region 1 dvd,s?

Question

theres a film im after on dvd but its only on region 1 and have not got a multi region dvd player.but got a ps3 so just wondering would the ps3 play the region 1 dvd.

DVDs are Blu-Rays are not region free, but the some of the models allow you to alter the region a few times until it goes back to the originally set region code or it will stay the same as the currently set region code.

Region 1 and Region 2 should be able to work on a PS3 for DVDs ONLY. This does not include Blu-Rays and the games (when the games become region locked).

If you live in North America it will work. Some players, (I think the PS3 does but I'm not sure) let you change the region code a few times.

If you bought your PS3 in Canada, United States; U.S. territories or Bermuda, then yes.

If you bought the PS3 somewhere else than the countries above, then no.

If u bought the ps3 from the following countries then it will play region 1 dvds and bluray movies: region 1 standard applies to these countries,Canada, US, U.S territories and Bermuda.

No ! The PS3 is only region free for games ! Movies from different regions will not play on a PS3 from another region !
