I live in the UK, and I want to go to LA on holiday. Any advice?

Can you recommend any good hotels for me in the Beverly Hills/ Hollywood area?

I live in Beverly Hills so I can help you. haha.

I'm not sure what price range you're looking for but if you want a higher end place, you can stay at the recently opened up SLS hotel. There's also the Beverly Hills Hotel, and if you serve www.thegrovela.com I'm pretty sure there's a really nice hotel in there. There's marriots and hiltons hotels all around as well.

LA is great!! However right now the weather is crazy!! I've never had a winter so cold before, it's been like 60 degrees all week! haha.

I'm not sure what you mean by the bloods, but i think you're talking about the gang? lol but people are just trying to scare you. it's really nice here.

PS. If you're from the UK I LOVE YOUR ACCENT!!! LOL

At the moment, it's frosty where I live. We had blizzards of snow a week or so ago. 60 degrees is warm over here! haha :))))

If your going to be in LA, I suggest that you look into nightlife. LA has some of the most excentric nightlife Ive ever known. If it's possible bring a friend. If it's not make a friend. Check out a couple of nightclubs while your there. L.A. is also known for its television/movie production so it would also be cool to get a tour of a movie/television studio. Be sure to check out Disney Land to.

There are four sides to L.A.
The dangerouse gang/gheto side
The glamourose side
The average suburban city side
The exciting unpredictable side.

But while your in LA, you really should check out some other californian cities, like San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Barbra.

The Hollywood/Beverly Hills area is really expensive though, you should be open to other hotels downtown.

It's very nice in LA. A place thats full of excellent nightlife and nice weather generally. My sister lives there. Hmm... theres a lot of great hotels in the Beverly Hills area, but they don't really come cheap.

And thats a bit of BS saying its Dangerous all the time. Anywhere is dangerous. The UK could be dangerous I'm sure.

Just don't mess with the Bloods or the Latin Kings lol i'm joking. :P

You can check out travelocity.com or priceline.com, and also some of the big US hotel chains: Best Western, Hampton Inn, Comfort Inn, etc.


If you're looking to save money (and frankly a quid won't get you nearly as far in the US as it would've a year ago) check out Hostelworld.com or Hostelbookers.com: their ratings are customer generated and tend to be pretty accurate.

LA has a mild climate and is reasonably pleasant year round (note that you can easily look up temperature forecasts online.) Frankly if you're going to go through all the trouble of getting out to LA I'd recommend seeing some other parts of California as well-- San Francisco, Yosemitie, driving along the coast in between LA and SF, and San Diego are all things I would put on my tourist list ahead of LA proper, which is really just a gigantic suburb. If you can squeeze in the grand canyon (roughly a day's drive from LA) I highly recommend that as well.

Also if you can't drive or are under 21 you might consider going with a package tour--you basically need a car to get around LA by yourself.

Most of the people above painted a very good picture on what it's like here. you would have a better time in Hawaii or Florida or Seattle
