Be carefull when booking because some Rio zones are not safe. Turist zones usually are but... keep an eye about it.

I stayed in small guesthouses which were budget through this organisation: www.camaecafe.com.br

It is like `bed and breakfast` so not usually hotels small guesthouses. It can make your stay much more personable and is a good way to really get to know the city.

If you just want a list of hotels then try Lonely Planet or Rough Guides.
