Please advise on a nice town/village north of Bordeaux but not as far as Poitiers?

Hello, I am arranging a road trip through France for my husband & dad and it is driving me mad! Please can anyone advise on a nice town/village north of Bordeaux but not as far as Poitiers. If you can help with a great hotel too that would be great! They are driving a minibus and I cant find any hotels with parking either!
Any advice gratefully received

You have a wide choice!
Look at Mappy.com and check for hotels

Try La Boule d' Or in Barbezieux just off the N10, nice restaurant

Very nice town. I lived there for a year or so and loved it. Great people, great shops, great comic book museum!
