Is the new advert for Meerkat.com racist?

Question

Meerkats are African, the advert depicts them talking in a Russian accent.

This surely means that the advertisers are being anti African and therefore racist.

Missing the point methinks. Meerkat is supposedly the way a russian would say market, hence compare the meerkat. No racism here mate.

Does anybody actually really care to be honest?? It's a commercial and a pretty good one to, i checked out yesterday whether the comparethemeerkat.com was actually a website and weirdly enough they had actually taken the time and money to create a website where you can pick a meerkat by its hobbies and age. I don't believe they ahd any intention on seeming racist and people really need to get a life if all they do is find reasons why other people are racist.

I'm proud to say i love the commercial :) The website is very cute.

It could also be seen that the Meerkats are taking the piss out of Russians and therefore meerkats are racists........

Of Course it doesn't. The meerkat may have been born in a Russian zoo, meaning he will have been bought up by around other Russian animals. By living around other Russian animals, the meerkat has picked up the Russian accent.



There is also the slight possibility that the meerkat isn't actually real, and has just been voiced by a Russian actor.

How can you be sure that it's a Russian accent? It could be a really lousy African accent! lol.

Alternatively, it could be a meerkat that has spent a long period of time living in Russia - hence the Russian accent!

Maybe he moved at a young age? Whatever it is, I think meerkats are just sooo cute and I want one
