Which part of Southern France from paris?

want to spend a week in Southern france maybe Cannes. Any ideas of good hotels and what the train service is like from paris please?

I agree with the first answer. Nice is a lot cheaper than other places. When I go to Monaco I stay in Nice. However, make sure you get a hotel in a nice area. There are many "not so nice" areas.

try staying in nice very short train ride to cannes and hotels will be a bit cheaper
