Urgent: In the United Kingdom, how much tips for hotel room services , for tips to bell boy, tips for a meal?
Urgent, i am going to stay in the UK hotel today. I need the answer in a few hours, please, thank you.
(1) how much tips should I pay for the room service eg: if i order food to my room to eat? If yes, should the percentage of tips base on how much amount of money of food i ordered or i can normallly pay a certain amount of tips eg: two pounds no matter how much I spend for the order food?
(2) how much tips should I give to the bell boy if he carries my luggage to my room?
(3) if there is no service charge included in the lunch or dinner menu in a restaurant, how much percentage of the whole bill of tips should i pay?

However much you feel comfortable with - we're basically not a tipping culture like the US is, and mainly expect restaurants to pay their staff decently. In a restaurant I normally tip to bring the total to a whole number of pounds in the 10-15% range, but do check whether the staff actually get the tips or if the management keep them (particularly if you pay by credit card) - there was a campaign in The Independent newspaper about this earlier this year. If the management keep the tips, leave nothing, and make sure the management know why you're doing this.
