What is Disney's Contempory hotel like?

I have been to disney world for 19 years running now and next summer we are thinking of trying the contempory. What do you think of it? I have a 2 year old daughter, is it suitable? It would work out slightly cheaper because there would be 5 of us in the room. We normally stay in French Quarter (Port Orleans) Thanks for reading this

Tons of things to do. It is a great choice. You can see the water pageant at night along with the fireworks. It has great pools and a Great arcade and it has Chef' Mickey's! Shopping is good and if you can get a grown up dinner in you have the Grill on top of the hotel or take a boat ride over to the Wilderness Lodge and eat at the Point. Since it is on the Monorail you also have the choice of the Polynesian and The Grand Floridians restaurants so make the most of it and enjoy!

I think you will like it. As far as suitability for your daughter, you will love the convenience of it being on the monorail so you can run her back to the hotel if needed! Beyond that, who cares, right! But I do think it will be fine for her. I personally don't think it is the best Disney hotel, but the monorail makes up for it.

Great hotel. Lots to do in the hotel. Pool area is great there are watercraft you can rent. beautiful view of the fireworks at night On a nice day you can walk to the Magic Kingdom rather than taking the monorail which will take about 15 mins because it stops at 3 other places.

I personally love the Contemporary for it's convenience, views and much more. You can enjoy accommodations in a dazzling lakeside environment. As monorails breeze quietly through the lobby, you're reminded that the Magic Kingdom® Park is just moments away. This Deluxe Hotel features a pool area, white-sand beach, and a complete array of dining and recreational options.

The Contemporary Resort is one of the two original WDW hotels. It is located between Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon on the monorail loop that services the Magic Kingdom. It consists of a large A-frame section (the Tower) and one Garden Wing. The fourth floor of the Tower is known as the Grand Canyon Concourse where you will find a variety of shops and restaurants as well as the monorail station. The Contemporary offers many recreation options and also houses large convention facilities.

Location, location, location is great at the Contemporary. ! As one of the Monorail hotels the Contemporary Resort is very well located. The Magic Kingdom is only a short monorail ride (or walk) away and getting to Epcot simply requires transferring from one monorail to another one.

The Tower rooms are much more convenient to the shops, restaurants, front desk and monorail station. These rooms also have fabulous views of either Bay Lake or the Seven Seas Lagoon and the Magic Kingdom. The rooms in the South Wing are closer to the marina and swimming pools. The views from the rooms in the wing vary. On the downside, some of the Tower rooms can be noisy as they are located directly above the Grand Canyon Concourse and the rooms in the Wings are a hike from the Monorail station and other facilities. The Tower Rooms are more expensive, so if you want to take advantage of the location for the lowest price, inquire about the Garden Wing.

Just note....there is construction still going on the ground of the Contemporary. They are currently building a Disney Time Share right next door and the pool will be shut for renovation during the winter months.

Plus Disney is offering a great special for the first half of 2009. Stay for 7 nights and pay for 4 and get 3 nights free (resort room & tickets).

    Hope that helps a bit!
