If a pet has mange, do i have to disinfect my flat or anything and am i ok to cuddle him?

I'm taking the cat to the vets tomorrow, someone said that he may have mange. Anyways i've asked another question about the cat and his problem. Im also a bit worried about the cleanliness of my flat if he does have mange as i am worried there will be mites all over it. Plus am i alright cuddling him, if he does have mites can they be transferred to me? Is there any specific cleaning i need to go to get rid of them?

Thanks

Mange mites are generally under the skin and so you will find that your vet does skin scrapings with a scalpel blade on your cat to make sure that it is mange. Generally, you would be advised to wash any bedding/soft furnishings that your cat sleeps on but the mites won't live long without a host, so you don't have to worry about it too much. There are two types of mange, one of which isn't contagious to humans and one which is highly contagious and you can get it. I wouldn't do too much cuddling if I were you. If you get it you will find that you get red itchy spots under your breasts, where your bra goes and around where your knickers are, if you get it just go to the doctors and tell them that your cat had mange and you will be given an insecticide.
