I don't know. I like listening to music. It doesn't make any sense that it's haram.

We are not playing the guessing game. If music existed in the time of the Prophet (saw), then either the Qur'an or Hadiths would say that "music is haram." It doesn't, so we can't assume it is.

Music is not haram. There are a total of two hadiths which imply music is haram but they are weak. Outlawing Music is typical of all religions that are experiencing a cultural and political decline. It happened to Judaism and Christianity in the past.

If music was haram then Prophet Muhammad would have forbid ALL types of musical instruments, and he would have stopped the children from singing when he first arrived in Madinah.

The only instrument we know that is haram is the flute because Iblis loves it. I think that the rest is vague for a reason.

i heard that its harom because it changes our emotions. like if its a sad song it makes us cry or a happy song it makes us happy ect... and we are suppose to have control of our emotionas and not let some song make a happy day sad or a sad day that not suppose to be happy, happy!!!

Assalaamu alaikum, There is no benefit in composing or listening to Music.

Evidence of prohibition in the Qur’aan and Sunnah:

Allaah says in Soorat Luqmaan (interpretation of the meaning):

“And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing) to mislead (men) from the path of Allaah…” [Luqmaan 31:6]

The scholar of the ummah, Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: this means singing. Mujaahid (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: this means playing the drum (tabl). (Tafseer al-Tabari, 21/40).

Al-Hasan al-Basri (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: this aayah was revealed concerning singing and musical instruments (lit. woodwind instruments). (Tafseer Ibn Katheer, 3/451).

Al-Sa’di (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: this includes all manner of haraam speech, all idle talk and falsehood, and all nonsense that encourages kufr and disobedience; the words of those who say things to refute the truth and argue in support of falsehood to defeat the truth; and backbiting, slander, lies, insults and curses; the singing and musical instruments of the Shaytaan; and musical instruments which are of no spiritual or worldly benefit. (Tafseer al-Sa’di, 6/150)

Eccentric you are totally off course!

normal music ( no sexual feelings) is not a sin in islam. it is based on some corrupt hadith. u cant find even a single verses in quran which tells us that music is a sin.
Music is one of the purest and most beautiful creation of God who set the tone and rhythm of every sound in the universe. Music or singing like all the creations of God, that now constitute an important part of our daily life, can be lawfully used or maliciously abused. Both music and singing are created pure, and beautiful like our fresh air and fresh water and they can be corrupted or polluted by evil-doers of every nationality, color or gender. The corruption of some music shows or songs does not make all the music or songs prohibited just like the pollution of some water or fresh air by some people will not deem all the water and air prohibited.

The sincere Muslim who is following the Quran will not find in the Quran ANY PROHIBITION whatsoever OF MUSIC OR SINGING. God is very specific and His commands are very clear regarding any prohibition given in the Quran. God, the Most Merciful, NEVER prohibited music or singing in the Quran. Any prohibition of music or singing that is talked about among some Muslims has no basis in the Quran.

These prohibitions are innovations made up by some of the scholars and their followers who do not shy from refusing to follow the clear commands in the Quran and instead follow man made laws and books. and some follow some corrupt Hadith that contradict the Quran, contradict simple common sense and insult the message of the prophet Muhammad.

These Hadith were written over 200 years after the death of prophet Muhammad. The prophet Muhammad himself followed and preached ONLY the Quran. These scholars and their followers, who failed to accept God's law in the Quran, looked for different kind of laws in the interpretation of Imams (leaders), Sahaba (companions) They invented their own law and claimed that "Music and singing are haram." Those who are confused or ignorant with their Quran choose to follow the interpretation of these human idols and their laws and disregard the clear laws of God in the Quran. After all we should always remember that Quran is the book that God calls COMPLETE, PERFECT and FULLY DETAILED.

Any keen observer of the universe will realize that the whole universe was created with music in every corner of it. Our talking, crying, laughing, singing, yelling or screaming are nothing but music. Our heart beats, bowel sounds, breath sounds, the sound of our blood flow or even our brain waves are but music. The birds, the animals, the trees, the oceans, the wind and the clouds are all created with their own music. Music is in every corner of our universe. With music in every thing around us, it is naive to think that the One God who created all this music prohibited it. Those who claim that Music and singing are haram, lie about God and prohibit what God never did.

The human being was created and given one of the most valuable gifts, a voice box, which is in reality a music box. This voice box, or the larynx is one important instrument that allows us to communicate with each other and with other creatures around us. Our arrival and departure to and from this world are celebrated with that special music, the cry of the newborn or the cry for the departing one. The arrival of the newborn to this life is announced by his/her scream, the best music to the mother's ear. For the earlier months of the human being's life, the only way of communication is through the music that his/her voice box makes until he/she learns the more sophisticated music that is called the speech-language. It is not surprising to find out that listening to a foreign language is like listening to music with different tones. Those who prohibit music do not understand their Islam or the basic gifts in life that God gave them.

MUSIC AND SINGING WERE NEVER PROHIBITED BY GOD. They are part of the most beautiful creations of God. As long as they do not call on the people or encourage them to commit sins, they are for the TRUE BELIEVERS TO ENJOY while remembering God with every beautiful note or rhythm.
edit:: Muslimah pls dont circulate wrong translation of Quran.
the correct translation of the surah Luqman 31.6 is like this
""Among the people, there are those who uphold baseless Hadith, and thus divert others from the path of GOD without knowledge, and take it in vain. These have incurred a shameful retribution.”” By KHALIFA 31:6 (http://www.quranbrowser.org/) “”
Mam for ur kind information its purchase “idle tales” and not “idle talks” mam if u see the original arbic language u will see the word the word Hadith and Linguistically the word ‘hadith’ means: a piece of information conveyed either in a small quantity or large. i.e sort of tales or narrations. Also mam there is no such mentioning of. Music or singing with this idle tales

because music is a tool that the devil uses to deflect us away from God and doing good deeds.one of saytans way of leading us down the wrong path and into nar (HELL)

and instead of listening to music we should be doing more usefull things like praying to Allah, reading the quran ,reembering allah, being helpful to others and so on....and saytan tries to stop us by saying to us i have something better for u(something in fact that is useless and and is no benefit to u,just wastes your time)....and in actual fact its stopping u doing good deeds ,which in the hereafter is bad for you coz on the day of judgement u will will have regrets and say to "o'Allah let me go back, this time i will do it right but than it would be too late."

i hope this helps coz some ppl here who answer have no knowledge on this and are just putting down there own opinions

‘Abdullah b. Mas’ûd – Allah be pleased with him – said:

Singing sprouts hypocrisy (nifâq) in the heart as water sprouts greens and herbs.

    Ibn Battah, Al-Ibânah Al-Kubrâ Vol.2 p469, and Al-Bayhaqî, Al-Sunan Al-Kubrâ Vol. 52 p231.

Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawzîyah – Allah have mercy on him – said in Madârij Al-Sâlikîn, Vol.1 p487:

These are the words of someone who fully understood singing and its effects, for no one regularly sings or listens to song except that his heart falls into nifâq without him realizing. If such a person understood the reality of nifâq and its end he would see it in his own heart. Never do the love of song and the love of Qur`ân come together in a person’s heart except that one expels the other. I and others have witnessed how heavy the Qur`ân feels to singers and song-listeners; how they coil when it is recited and how they get angry with a reciter when he recites too long for them (in prayer etc); and how their hearts do not benefit from what he recites: they are not moved to do anything by it. But when the Qur`ân of Shaytân comes, lâ ilâha illallâh! How they lower their voices and settle down! How their hearts feel at peace and how the crying and emotions start, how moved they are inwardly and outwardly and spend on clothing and perfume and staying up hoping for a long night ahead. If this is not nifâq then it is certainly the way to it and its foundation.

Music seems to be a Misunderstood topic and some side say its 'Haram' while other say it is not. The real fact is that most Scholar don't discuss such issues or even debate on it. People can point to different Hadiths to make their point. The Qur'an does not talk about Music, however it does mention the Psalms of David, which are not recitation but are 'songs' and 'hymns' song. The Torah does mention Music and Instruments used by the Prophets. Many Muslim sing Naats, Nasheeds and Hamad and some use Instruments for them. The reality is that Most Islamic countries kept their Traditional and Cultural Music. Music is also used for Wedding and other occasions.

Again this is a question depend on whom you ask. From My Point of View is that not all forms of Music are forbidden and they never forbidden neither by the Hadiths or the Qur'an. The Music that is forbidden was the one which the Pagans (Pre-Islamic) society used to do, which is like the Western Society, were people go out to drink alcohol and then go to clubs to listen to Music and dance and involve themselves in other acts. How can that Muslim be compare to the Music were people praise Allah(SWT).

Islam is built upon the submission of human to the belief of Muhammed--he (and royal family members) may do as they please--mere mortals and sheep such as yourselves must live life in blind ignorance to what you see.
Enjoy reading the Quran--whilst your teachers drink ,smoke blunts ,watch pron and enjoy liasons with male and females(and animals in the case of Pakistanis)
