Which city to visit?? - York or Durham in the UK?

Question

I am planning a two day trip for my wife and me. To cut a long story short I can great great deals on the Marriott in Durham or York, but I don't know which one to go to. Can anyone advise. The only advantage is the the hotel in Durham is only 10 pounds more expensive and I got the breakfast included. But then the York hotel is 1.5 miles out of the city and I know there is more to see.

Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions on what city to go to.

Thanks to everyone who has answered me so far, most likely I guess it will be York then. Just gotta remember to cancel the hotel in Durham now lol.

The UK is England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland altogether,

York & Durham are in England,

Both York and Durham are beautiful cities, and I have been to both many times.Durham in particular has stunning views of the Cathedral and Castle from many parts of the City,as well as quaint narrow streets leading to 'Palace Green' between the two. However, it is very small for a City, and can fairly easily be 'covered' in one day.
York, on the other hand is much larger, and although it cannot in any way boast of views anything like those in and around Durham, there are, because of it's size, more things to see there, so if it is a two day trip then I would recommend York.

Definitely York, more to do and see.
It's easily accessible from the Marriott, you can walk and it is rather pleasant.

DURHAM by far its beautiful!!!

Everything is walking distantce from each other!!

A lot of history!

Loads of great pubs and restaurants!

Something always going on!!

Laze on a rowing boat down the river!!!

Climb to the top of the cathedral!!

Durham definetely!!

York without a doubt. There's more to see, more to do and when you've had enough, you can find more without travelling too far!

Never been to durham but York's a lovely city with lots to do. Make sure you take your wife for afternoon tea at betty's. pricey but very nice!
