Resolved Question

I'm going to India for 1 month of yoga in Bangalore then up to Delhi for 2 wks. How much money should I take?

I will stay in an ashram for 1 month then will travel for the following 2 wks. I want to see the golden triangle and get to Amritsar then fly home from Delhi.
I want to see as much as possible and only want to stay in one top notch hotel throughout the whole stay.
Any suggestions gratefully received!

Not alot but I do it on the cheap,as for flights go for Kingfisher airlines(internal flights) as they are cheap.I paid about £40 for a flight from Goa to Delhi.Ashrams are pretty cheap too.I'm going to India agin this year,it's my 4th time,I am allowing max £80 per week spending money(accomodation and food, overland travel)and then that's living comfortably. STA tends to have the cheapest flights but you will have to fly into Mumbui then get a flight to Bangalore cos it takes too long in the time you get by train. Mumbui is very expensive and nasty so you'll do better getting a connecting flight to Bangalore from Mumbui so you needn't stop there. If you want to live in a top notch hotel then the sky's the limit!Enjoy.

If you are in ashram I am sure you will be paying least.
Depends how much you want to donate. May be Rs 5000 or Rs 10000 depends on you.

For delhi the flight would cost around Rs 5000 to Rs 6000

Hotel and restaurant will cost around Rs 5000 to Rs 9000 per day depends

Keep atleast Rs 1,50,000 including some shopping.

You can open an Non Residencial Indian (NRI) account from your local country in banks like (ICICI, Citibank etc...) before you travel and get an ATM card from them which can be used for shopping / hotels / ATMs etc.....

It depends what time of year you go. I went in summer (from july to september) which is off peak due to the monsoon. Accomodation was around half the price of peak season. I was spending about 300rps per night on accomodation and about another 300-400 on everything else (including travel)

In the big cities you can probably double this, top hotels are not that cheap - $200 min
