Can you stay in a hotel in Finland at 16 without an adult?

I'm going to helsinki with a friend and was wondering whether you needed an adult to check in or some kind of permission or whether you can just check in yourself?

PS. Will they have english speaking people there to help ?

Usually it is okay but why not call to that hotel and ask in advance?? Most Finns do speak good English, especially those working within tourism.

At age SIXTEEN (16) I rather doubt it. At EIGHTEEN (18), on the other hand, there wouldn't be a problem.

In Finland, you're adult enough at EIGHTEEN to vote, buy/use tobacco products, and buy/drink anything with up to 22% alcohol. You're also a legal adult at 18. At TWENTY (20) you're old enough to buy any kind of alcohol you like. Of course, you need proof of identity (something official, like a passport, driver's license, ID card, etc.) to do any of the above.

At 16 you're legally an adult so I can't see any reason why you couldn't stay in a hotel. You might need to pay cash up front for the room in the absence of a credit card though.

Have you decided on a hotel yet? If so why not phone them and ask them the question.

FYI 99% of Finns speak very good English, if they work in the Hotel business I guarantee they will speak good English.

By the way hotels here tend to be quite expensive and get full easily - make sure you book well in advance or you might not get a room.
