Where shall we go?

Myself and my girlfriends all in our early 20's (23 -25) are looking for a good European city break.
We have already been to Krakow, Prague and Amsterdam so we dont want to revisit thoses places.

We are planning on going on the 20th of June for 3 nights and preferrable would like to stay in a hotel rather than camping or hostels. However, all we need is a bed and shower to keep happy, we dont need frills.

We are looking for a fun, exciting place, plenty of shopping, good night life at resonable prices.

We dont really have a budget but would not like to go beyond €400 each for flights and accomodation. We will be travelling from Dublin as we are all from the Midlands in Ireland.

Can anyone suggest somewhere for us to visit? Is copenhagen nice? Whats Brussels like? Anyone been to Franfurt?

We are 4 very eassy going girls and just up for the craic, all opinions and recommendations appreciated.

THANKS in advancexxx

Depends on what you want of course also weather-wise there is going to be a difference

Barcelona is gorgeous, the city itself, shopping is brilliant, food is fantastic, nightlife is pretty good. It is a bit pricey - but that kind of goes with the territory for a major city with a lot going on. You can get a range of different accomodation there so that's not a problem, but mid-end June, it could be pretty warm and also humid (I'm not a big sunbaby so it was too warm for me!)

So on the otherhand as you mentioned Brussels is a good altenative. There are a lot of expats living there and a really great range of pubs & clubs, a good vibe around it, and my impression was that you are always welcomed. Also you can visit other cities in the area if you don't want to be tied down such as Brugge which is a great overnighter.

With 4 of you, think you will manage to have fun whereever you go, but have a great trip!

P.S. I've been to Frankfurt once and it was 'ok' but not for a week, Berlin is far better, much more to offer.

Thanks everyone, I wish I could visit all places mentioned!
We have booked our weekend away- we are going to Bruges in Belguim, we got it at a good price €288 each for flights and accomodation. It seems like a really interesting place...beer and chocolate what more do we need!

Budapest, surprised me. Its a great looking city, and the hungarians are very friendly. Felt very western European in outlook and at the same time "Eastern" because of its history and language. Great for discovering the streets, good tourist info and good exchange rate.

Has a unique concentration of baths/spas which are situated on top of natural hotsprings, look up Gellert, you'll recognise the pictures. There is even a hot open air swimming pool in the middle of the biggest park in the city.

Well I would suggest Venice as somewhere different.Florence is my favourite city after Prague.Barcelona and Madrid are great cities although I would go south to Granada. That is an amazing city with the Alhambra. This is the flamenco dancing area. That would probably be my pick. Barcelona would be close and cheaper to get to for only three days. Hostels are cheap and many have cheap or free tapas my daughter told me.She has been more recently than me.( 2 yrs ago)

I was going to say Prague, but since you've already been there, why not try Rome? I've been there twice and it was ok.

Recommend - definitely - Barcelona. It's got absolutely everything you could want: lively night life, culture (absolutely coming out of it's ears - if you like Gothic architecture, modernist buildings, arts, street markets, entertainers, theatres, landmarks, parks, harbours, marinas etc - you cannot beat it), great food and drink.

Been there around 4 times myself (I usually only ever go to a city once - but Barcelona is really pretty special)

Hotels range from pretty cheap to pretty expensive (as you'd imagine for such a trendy city) have a look at AtlasChoice (http://www.atlaschoice.com) for probably the best range of prices/hotels. Would definitely recommend staying in the Gothic Quarter (Barrio Gotic) - right next to the Ramblas.

Flights, again, pretty good value too - easyJet (http://www.easyJet.com) and BA (http://www.ba.com) are the two I've flown with - both excellent prices.

    Hope this helps!
