Hurricane season?

hi, does anybody know when hurricane season starts in orlando florida?
were thinking of going next sep 2009 for 2 wks with our children, will we be safe going then?
when's the best time?
is weather good there in sep?

Hurricane season in the Atlantic starts June 1 and ends November 30. However, it's not unusual to have tropical activity in May or December.

Weather in September is still pretty hot. Yes, there is a risk for hurricanes then, but we know in advance where there is tropical activity - sometimes days in advance. Most places will have a peace of mind or weather calamity cancellation policy in effect for hurricane season. If you book during hurricane season, just ask about it.

However, if you have a choice of when to go, mid to late October is going to have much nicer weather.

We went in Sept with our kids, The weather was gorgeous and it wasn't too busy. However, There was a hurricane when we landed there but the next day it was lovely, we had two weeks with no trouble and then on our way home there was another, it just caused turbulence on the plane but it soon passed. I was not put off and we are thinking of going again in Sept 2009, if i see you I'll say hi!

It starts in June and ends in Nov....thats why I go in Dec, Jan, Feb which is quiter too. Boyfriend went in Aug/Sept a couple of years ago and it rained constantly for 12 days out of 14...I didn't laugh too hard lol

The official Hurricane season for the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico is June 1 through November 30. However, most major Atlantic hurricanes develop during the warmer months of August and September. The warmer the temps of the waters in the ocean, generally the more severe the storm will be.

Hurricane season is 6/1-11/1. Hurricanes are unpredictable. The good news is that you do have warnings when they are on their way.
We haven't had anything in the area since '04.
September will be hot and humid.
I personally prefer Disney in the late fall, winter, and early spring.

storm season in florida officially starts on July 1st, i remember this being on the radio last time i was there, however the last week in June is quite stormy.

I have been twice and heading out for third time next week. First time i went i was there last two weeks of june and it was extremely warm, but second week there were so many thunder storms.

second time i was out last week of may first week of june. it was gorgeous, not as stormy and very warm.

now i am heading out next friday and the weather forecast predicts beautiful sunshine.

I would always recomend around may time, but to be honest i would go there anytime but july/august. September would still be extremely warm.
