No,the top of the range Lexus can sell for around £80,000.If you can afford to pay that for a car then the choice is there.

Ok....so they are brought by rich idiots then?

The streering wheel feels like isn't connected to the wheels at all. The engines are weak and the whole car is a complete bore. And the bage is a toyota one....
Lexus cars are also very expensive and better than Jaguars and BMW in quality .. SIR

I have had Mercedes, Jaguars and BMW's. Jaguars are small and trouble prone; Mercedes are overrated and I was always treated like an idiot by the service personnel; BMW has a great engine/transmission combo and they are great driving cars but the fit and finish is just not there. If you want luxury features, great fit/finish, superb ergonomics, quiet ride, hybrid (in my case) power, outstanding customer care and attention to detail look no further than Lexus. Toyota's Lexus division is all that keeps me from having to drive a Mercedes, Jaguar or BMW in that price range. And, by the way, Toyota makes some pretty nice cars so I wouldn't scoff at them.

Interesting question but Jaguar is just the worst crap. They have improved since Ford has owned them in reliability. Now they've upgraded from the worst crap to just crap. I love driving BMWs regardless of model, but things go wrong (usually electrical). Lexus is a newer company (started in 1989) and doesn't have the history behind it like BMW or Mercedes, but Lexus quality, reliability, and luxury has Lexus setting the standard when it comes to luxury cars. I've seen early '90s Lexus cars with over 400,000 miles on them and the interiors were as solid as when they were new. Granted, there is still some wear and tear on the upholstery like the others but most of its components are still the original ones that the car was built with. Try finding a BMW or Mercedes (or any Euro brand for that matter) that doesn't have electrical problems. An LS400,430,or even the 460 are amazing to drive. In fact, all Lexus models are amazing in their own way. The ES models are simply restyled Camrys but they are the quietest (and most reliable) in their class. A testament to how good the Camry really is. A buddy of mine was looking at new luxury cars. He wants to get another BMW but he told me that he noticed that comparable Lexuses have more hp and better mpg. A posh Toyota? Maybe some models are but aren't Cadillacs just posh Chevys and Lincolns posh Fords? European cars may have cache on their side but I'd take a Lexus (even the new Cadillacs and Lincolns) over them anyday. Outside the BMW M cars, the only thing BMWs really have is their great handling. Cooling system and electrical problems are common on BMWs however. Still, Lexus has set the standard to which all luxury cars try to reach. It proves that you don't have to have reliabilty woes to own a luxury car. That in itself makes Lexus great.

did you take a look at a Lexus from the inside or better drive one, they are the best, compared to a BMW, it has more features than a BMW and at the same base price,

go to a Toyota Dealer near you and test drive a GS 350 or 460 and then you can tell that they match the german cars and surpass them by years of technology.

as for the jag, it is a piece of crap.... always been always will be

With cars like those i think they produce some great cars.

I love BMW'S a lot but around here they have losed there creed and the market as with many cars lowered and people from all brackets of live could afford one which is great although took a lot of creed away from the BMW being for the richer folks.

Myself love the gs300 /aristo and the is250/350/altezza

Lexus has been producing very good cars for many years, the reason they have not sold in greater numbers is executive brand snobbery, in the same way that we who are less well off and have to buy our own cars have ignored Skoda.

Not really for they are excellent cars. They are for discerning drivers who enjoy something different. Some people claim that they are "posh" Toyotas and I do not think this is true.
