Old but still going.
Probably the most irritating thing about this hotel is the parking garage....ancient!
Tough to get into, very narrow and extremely small parking spaces!

I stayed there and loved it. I stayed in their newly rennovated Go! Rooms..42" LCD, TV in the bathroom mirror, mp3 dock, power curtains, beautiful room. The service was good. The casino was a little older, but had everything you needed. The pool was very nice though. The flamingo though has one of the best locations on strip, and unlike the other casinos. No walkways, escalators etc. to mess with to get to the strip. The second you walk out of the casino..you're on the strip sidewalk..can't ask for anything better than that.

Anyway here's my review of The flamingo on Yelp.com

    http://www.yelp.com/biz/flamingo-las-veg…

I highly recommend The Flamingo..probably my favorite Vegas casino for overall value.

Make sure you directly book with flamingo for these reasons:

    1) rates usually cheaper through casino itself
    2) if you ever need to cancel (within 24 hours of check in) no penalty or locks
    3) if the rate ever drops they'll re-rate you
    4) they have something called the "Best rate guarantee" so sometimes they'll match a competitor and drop the rate 25% (it saved me $100 per room last nov).

    Have Fun!

I used to work at the Flamingo. It's a very nice hotel on the Strip. Has good restaurants and a gorgeous pool area. They tore down Bugsy Siegal's cottage in the back though so don't expect any nostaglia.

It is older and I thought the casino had a funny smell at first...I don't know. I haven't stayed there but it sure has location going for it. I love the pina coladas that you can get for free while gambling. Just tip the waitress and your glass won't be empty.

Just got back from the Flamingo yesterday, stayed in the go rooms, great bed, clean room, hot shower and friendly staff.
As far as a location you can't ask for me, out the front door to the right is O'Sheas cheap drinks has a Burger King if you need cheap eats, Imperial Palace has impersanators dealing, Harrahs has the shopping and the outside bar, then the Casano Royale which as some cheap shirts and jackets, then the Venetian then across the street from there is the Mirage and then on to Ceasars plenty of shopping there. When you go left outside the Flamingo you can hit Ballys, Paris and Planet Hollywood plenty of shopping there also. These hotels are all with walking distance without too much strain. If you want to hit other hotels on the Strip without a long hike there is always the monorail at the rear of Flamingo which will take you as far north as Saraha (stops inbetween) and as far as south as MGM (stops inbetween). A stop on the Monorail at the MGM gives you easy access to Tropicana,NY Ny, Excalibur once at the Excalibur you can take the free tram to Mandalay Bay and on the way back hit the Luxor. The central location is great on the feet.

As far as location, I can't think of a better hotel....its not a 5 star hotel, but the room is everything you can ask for as far as being comfortable and clean. I don't think you are going to Vegas to spend all your time in the room, but the go rooms are nice enough that what time you spend in them will make you happy. And if you plan on getting some sun or swimming, the pool is one of the best on the strip.
