I am a No7 consultant and can assure you they are not, No7 is the only brand that test on thousands of people (not just hundreds)

They are definatly not. I like this make up and skincare brand. It's cheaper than Clarince, Este Lauder, etc but the product are good.

    Animal testing statement
No animal testing of any kind is undertaken or commissioned by Boots Group PLC or its subsidiary businesses.

We recognise that until satisfactory replacements are available, some animal tests will be carried out by others, to meet regulatory requirements and protect public health. These safety tests sometimes involve ingredients used in products manufactured and sold by our subsidiary businesses.

We'd like to see an end to all animal tests and we give financial and technical support to the development and introduction of alternative forms of safety testing.

this means that some of the ingredients that they use could of been tested on animals, i would try a more ethical company for your make up, http://beautywithoutcruelty.co.uk do brilliant make up and a good choice too, but it depends on how concerned you are x

Someone else has posted the Boots statement. I used to use No.7 products till I became more aware. Whilst the Boots statement says that products are not tested on animals. It gives no indication of whether or not ingredients are.

The key thing with animal testing is something called a Fixed Cut Off Date (FCOD). For example, Co-Op's FCOD is 1985 (or 1987, can't remember). They will not use any ingredient that has been tested on animals after that date, as well as not testing the finished product.

Naturewatch (link in source) produce a guide for £3 on companies with and without FCOD. Its very useful. But here are some I know off the top of me head (I lent my copy to a friend) that have FCOD:

Lush (not technically, they just refuse to work with suppliers that do test, and they don't test their products on anything other than themselves)
B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful (see above)
    Lavera
    Barry M (available from Superdrug)
    Logona
    Dr. Hauschka
    Lee Stafford Haircare
    Beauty Without Cruelty
    Pure Nuff Stuff
    Marks & Spencers
    Organic Pharmacy
    Urban Decay

    There are loads though!
