Vauxhall Frontera Sport immobiliser fault. Does anyone out there know how to reprogramme key fob?

I have a Vauxhall Frontera with an immobiliser which is a silver disc similar to a watch type battery on a black plastic key fob. Before starting the vehicle you touch the silver disc to the docking station on the dashboard which activates the immobiliser enabling you to start the engine. My car battery has failed and upon replacing it the immobiliser doesn't work & the car won't start. Is there a way to reprogramme the system?
