Looking for somewhere cheap and cheerful to stay in Lisbon this summer for a week! Hostel or Hotel?

1 week, me and the girlfriend.

Either a trendy hostel or a nice and cheap hotel.

Any ideas?

Pensao De Mar in the Alfama district. Clean, comfortable, simple, and very nice staff. We found it through www.hostelworld.com.

A word of warning, while there are showers in every room, the plumbing is best described as eccentric. That said, this was just a small thing.

Handy cafe in the ground floor of the building for a breakfast coffee and roll, and great restaurant on the corner for Portuguese homecooked dishes. Absolutely try their pork cooked with clams, it is simply divine.

Hostel worldis a good website and also wotif.com. They're both good for getting reasonable hostels and hotel rooms
