Does anyone know any hidden gems between Santander and Faro??

Hi, we are driving with 2 very young children (I know!) from Santander to Faro, we will need to stop twice, I guess, along the way for overnight stays. Does anyone know any lovely places to stay on that route, any nice towns/villages/hotels? Thanks

Yes, before you get to Madrid take a detour to "Segovia". I do know a good Hotel there if you are interested. It is a fascinating town and a "must see". Driving south you should head for Cordoba. As it is on your route I would make that your second stop. Once there you are about 3 - 4 hours from Faro. You could even consider making it three nights and staying one night in the most beautiful city in Andalucia, Sevilla which is less than two hours from Faro.
