1. Look around. Many places often carry the same items at different prices.

2. Make sure the place you want to buy from either has great deals or bargains on prices (a lot of places are now starting to have fixed prices).

3. Always bid lower than what you are actually willing to pay, then haggle up to a price (slowly) that both you and the seller can agree on.

4. Don't offer a ridiculously low bid - it will insult the seller and he'll be less likely to bargain with you.

5. Always look over the quality of the item you plan to buy. Make sure that there are no defects, or anything else wrong with the product.

6. Be polite. Acting rude won't get you very far.

7. If you can't agree on a price, walk away - either the seller will decide to come down in price, or you will find someone else who will.

8. If you can, it is always best to know how to say a few words in the native Tunisian Arabic. Here are a few that can help:

Asala'ama = Hello
Bisla'ama = Good-bye
Birabbee minfadlik = Please
Shukran = Thank you
Na'am (Aye)= Yes
La = No
Ba:hya = Okay (good)
Floose = money
Gha:li = expensive
3andikshi Sarf? = Do you have change?
Kadish? = How much (cost)?
Barsha= lots
Shwaya = little
Kbi:ra = Big/large
Sghi:ra = Small/little
Kelim bil Anglais? = Do you speak English?

Hope this helps. If I can be of any more help or assistance, please feel free to contact me.
