Vacation to Croatia? Dubrovnik or more than one spot?

My boyfriend and I are thinking about going to Dubrovnik this June. Do you recommend going to more than one island? What is there to do on the islands and Dubrovnik? We'd like to have beach time but are also young (mid-late 20's) and could go for some good food, sight seeing, dancing/bar, etc. Any hotel suggestions are welcomed (we'd stay at a 4 or 5 star place). Thanks :)

you are doing the right thing,my wife and i were among the first people to be allowed in after the troubles. The people are lovely. The islands are to die for,i went out to korkula, which is a lovely little island, but even there you can look up at the friezes and eaves on the buildings and see why the world acclaimed them as expert stonemasons.I managed to collar a few bottles of slivovitch ,the national drink, very nice plum brandy. My Austrian friend, Horst, goes to Dubrovnik every year now,he loves the place ,as i do.GO FOR IT AND MERRY CHRISTMAS.I f you just want the night life then stick to Dubrovnik ,a shame you will miss so much you may never get the chance to see again.Personally ,i would charter a yacht and live aboard whilst sightseeing.
