what is the max print size for the nikon d40

you can print any size but will loose resolution after 13x19inch
on the 6.1meg version

well, its 8mp so A3 isnt a problem... i have an E series olympus, and regularly print at A3...

and with the correct printer, you can get A2...

I regularly go 24x30 with my d40, and sometimes bigger. It takes some careful up-sampleing and such but 24x30 still looks fine provided you don't crop much.

With stitched panos, I can go much bigger.

Up-rezing a 6mp DSLR picture is like a normal point and shoot image. I have 18x24s shot at ISO 3200.

One more thing, if it looks like crap, most places will let you reprint... with more up-sampling. So no risk.
