A good quality hotel - somewhere in Yorkshire or maybe Scotland?

Thinking about having a pre christmas weekend away with the better half - was looking at Malmaison in Leeds and the one in Edinburgh, also saw Outon hall in Leeds. Somewhere nice - where you can actually spend some time in the hotel relaxing and stuff.

Just wondered if anyone had any 'hidden gems' out there that they know of. Ideaally somewhere within a 3/4 hour of drive of Sunderland?

Cheers

Nidd Hall Hotel, Harrogate.
They advertise pampering weekends but anyone can use the facilities as long as you`re staying at the hotel. In the most gorgeous setting, surrounded by countryside.

Warner Hotel, Harrogate.
For adults only. It`s an ideal to get away if you don`t want to hear any kids!
Not sure of the name of the Hotel but if you look on Warner Hotels web site, it`ll be on there.

The Old Swan, Harrogate.
Very grand, quite expensive and exclusive.
It`s old and has history, (it`s where Agatha Christie stayed when she went missing from her home town)
It`s near the Valley gardens and 5minute walk into town, but still in a good peaceful position.

Loads of hotels here to choose from and all have good standards.

Good luck with choosing.
Have a great time x
