How do i adjust the headlights on my Lexus?

Question

I have a Lexus SC430 (probably the same headlights as other Lexus') that when i switch the ignition on the dip beam lights seem to lift on a motor, but they lift tooooo far and i am dazzling everyone in front!! How do I adjust them without taking it to a Lexus dealer so they can charge me more per hour than I would pay for a private gig by Barbara Streisand!!

You forgot to mention the year, 2006 year models have afs
(adaptive front lighting system). In this case it usually cannot
be leveled. Also lexus headlights have level sensors. Things that affect this are ground effect kits, and aftermarket wheels that are not to lexus specification. Even though I highly recommend that you leave any adjustments done on a high
intensity discharge headlight to a Lexus Technician, you will find a philips slot on the head light to aim it.

their should be a set knob somewhere on the dash it usual has a scale from 0 to 3 try setting this to 0

repeated application of a sledghammer to the bonnet area works wonders to most headlights alignment, lexus are particularly good for this treatment. alternatively you could get Barbara to sing to it

under the steering column there should be a red button - do not press it !

Try stopping by and talking with the dealer. This may be a known problem which might be fixed for free. It does not hurt to talk - they don't charge you for that.

if your warranty on your Lexus is still valid THEN DON"T TAKE IT TO GID because it will ruin you warranty i don't know to much about sc becuse I have a GX470 sorry

on a wall use masking tape and a level to mark lines and find out the specs from your lexus dealer as to the hieght and distance apart from one another and use an allen wrench to adjust up and down and iona and out

Quick fix, you should have a headlight adjuster knob/switch some where on your dash. To actually adjust properley, look under the bonnet around the headlights and have a good think. Nearly every car is different.
Best place to do your adjusting, an open flat road. On dip your headlights should just show as far as you can see, with the right one lightly lower. The left should clip the kerb.
You should do this every time you change a headlight bulb!

if it is a new car take it back to your dealer you bought it from. If not take it to your nearest mot staion they will be able to set it for you and will be a lot cheaper (or free if they are nice) than lexus dealer.

SIMPLE; just have your wife/girlfriend meet for lunch. when you return to your car you will find the headlights well adjusted. good luck

On my GS 300, there are 2 10mm bolts on the back of each light unit.. turning these with a spanner adjusts the direction and height of the beams..
Even on a late car with auto levelling HID's, the adjustment still needs to be set correctly by the same method.

you can set it with the car on level ground facing a wall, and adjust so the dipped beams are level with the height of the lights.. cover each light in turn, and check the direction so it is pointing straight ahead.

Ideally, take the car to your local MOT testing centre, where they can check the lights on the beam setter.. they may charge a very small amount to adjust if needed.
