Opel Corsa's Dashboard Orange light with engine and a lightning in it?

Question

I have an Opel Corsa of '95.

Few days ago that light was on for few moments and for a couple of times.
Today when I tried to start up the engine , the engine didn't start up and a strange noise (like electric) was heard when I turned the start switch.

Is this a battery failure or what?

The light you describe sounds like the engine management light which when on indicates a malfunction of an engine component,the only way to tell is to have it scanned at a garage ( Around £40 ) and the noise maybe attributed to the starter motor,,turn on the headlights and try to turn the engine and if the lights dim then its the battery.

Take you car for an ECU scan... It will be or the lamda sensor or the GRsensor, you will see....
