Do spanish hotels accept cheques? Not travellers cheques - ordinary ones!?

May have run out of cash - can´t access bank details properly - need to know before Monday really as have to pay for one night accommodation in Granada. Thanks

No. If you are desperate, get a friend or relative to send money by Western Union, or Money Gram, to a local outlet.

That´s just what I did - borrowed some off my faithful ma! She paid cash into my bank at home in the end. It´s very hard to choose the best answer - You were all very helpful! Thx

No, I don't think so - do you not have your debit card with you - cheque support card? You can use that in the cash machines that show the "Maestro" sign just like you can iin the UK= failing that, find someone in UK that can transfer money to the Great Western Bank or equivilent - they can do this through any travel agent here, Lunn Poly, Thomas Cook or the like - good luck

The first two are correct,,,cheques are a bit of a no no in Spain,,,,cash is still king but credit cards are ok in the bigger towns and cities

If you mean UK Bank cheques.
Nope.. they DO NOT accept... specially because the banks in Spain will not accept it afterwards.

They definitely won't accept non-Spanish cheques.

You might find a fellow brit who is willing to accept a cheque and give you the money.

No, they will not, a bank will not either unless you have an account with them, and you still must have funds in the bank, and allow plenty of time for the cheque to clear, hope this helps you.............resident of Spain.
