If I find ancient treasure buried in the back garden of the house i own, can i keep it?

you have to report the find to the local coroner who then determines value and ownership of finds
wherever they are found

Well if it isnt to rear you can sell it and keep the profits..... but if it is rear it will soon catch the attention of the proper authorities. You must declare it here in the UK to some quango..... not sure what the name is and they have a board which decides what the value is and how much you will get.

I would. If you want to sell it, try an ancient artifacts type musium or Ebay. Or look it up on the internet and see how much it's worth.

Well done if you have. The law is that you have to declare it even if it is in your property. It will then be identified,cleaned and valued. If it is worth a lot of money you will be entitled to have the cash! but you must declare it first.

You would have to report it to the Coroner, who then has to judge if it was put away by the original owner for safety, and with the intention of coming back to collect it, or if it is lost or stolen property that no-one was going to be claiming.

In one instance, you get to keep it, in the other it goes to the Crown.

In uk you have to declare it, it could be what they call 'treasure trove' and i think it belongs to the monarchy or something, you get paid for it though! Well done, hope it's worth a mint!

if its ancient treasure them it is heritage so you cant flog it
if it is a crown that you have found then you have to wear it
if you keep it
