What do you think the outcome for mclaren will be in tomorrows fia meeting?

I think even if mclaren are found quilty they will only face a fine ,because the fia want the championship to go to the wire ,and they would like to see Hamilton to win,so to deduct points will have an adverse effect on this year championship.

However i think ferrari will take this scandal to the high court and go for massive compensation!

on the otherhand if mclaren our found not quilty then i still think ferrari will still go to the high court!

Tough call for the fia!

I doubt anything definitive will come of it. The only way there will be a reprimand or dq of McLaren will be if they are found to have benefitted from the information Coughlan possessed.

What is interesting, I read on Autosport last week, is that a team could be seen to benefit from another's information in more ways than simply stealing ideas to improve their own car; they could for example use information to build their own instance of the rival chassis and test it to see where it is more or less competitive.

However, there is the suggestion that Stepney tipped Coughlan about the moving floor on the Ferrari and that is how McLaren knew to protest. It is possible to consider McLaren may have gained from this knowledge insofar as the protest may have rattled Ferrari.

Tricky business.

I think Ferrari will continue to press the issue as long as possible. Simply put, if they can gain even a small psychological advantage they will reach for it.

Nothing will happen to Mclaren, and that's coming from 'Little Bernie' Well that what he said to Martin Brundle live on ITV last sunday.

I think it a case of the fia are damned if they do anything and their damned if the don't!
Ferrari will take this all the way even if it means this year championship is settled in the high court in a few years time.

but the fia will as normal properly do nothing to mclaren because they are leading this year championship( unless its Honda or a lesser team in which case they would have been banned.)

i see this year championship ending in a high court somewhere in the future!

The worst case scenario for McLaren would be exclusion from the championship - but they need not worry. Bernie would never allow that. Points deduction? Maybe. A fine? Most likely.

I think they'll ask Ron Dennis if he was a naughty boy, he'll say "no" and it will be a whitewash....

I don't know. Seriously, I don't think I will be able to sleep tonight...it's like one of my own family-members are being arrested and taken to interrogation. That's how it feels like.

I hope the best of things come out for my team. But as we all know from reports, all possible punishments are on the table.

The most worse thing is that the Sporting Code says that even if the offensive person in a team was acting as a rogue element, the team still has to pay the price. So, it all looks dark now.

Whatever the result, Ferrari won't relax until McLaren pays the heavy price (points deduction/ 2007expulsion).

But the FIA will try to be as fair too...becuase this situation is very dangrous for the sport. If McLaren is punished (severely or not), it will have a great turn-off effect over the Formula One community...especially the UK. The FIA won't forget that.

i hope you are right. if McLaren are found not guilty then Ferrari should go after Stepney, not Ron's team, after all he was the one who took the papers in the first place. i think the FIA will deal with it pretty fairly, after all they don't want to be seen in a bad light. i will be waiting for news anxiously as i don't want McLaren, Lewis or Fernando to be excluded or have points deducted, especially after Fernando's brilliant performance in Germany
