Information on Nigeria please..?

I am thinking about going to Nigeria later this year...

Could anyone give me any pointers about Nigeria's Delta State...

Any ideas where to stay, are there any hotels, is the dress code conservative?

I have been to Gambia and loved it, I would recommend it to anyone and would love to go back again someday...while at the airport coming back here I got talking to someone from the area in Nigeria I have mentioned and suggested that if I returned to Africa again, from what I had said to them, they thought I would enjoy going to Nigeria...

I went to Gambia alone (my partner will not go abroad) but stayed with friends of a friend, who met me at Banjul Airport....I dont know anyone in Nigeria, would it be ok to go on my own or would it be better with a male or female companion (I know that in Gambia I was told not to go about on my own unless it was close to where I was staying).

Any information will be appreciated...thanks...xx

don't go to the delta, its dangerous, high risk of being kidnapped and/or killed, it has no tourism facilities or things of interest anyway. Why not try Ghana? Much safer and the people are friendly.

try nice places like victoria island in lagos. the dress code and lifestyle is alright, as long as your in the southern parts. best to travel with others, it wont be safe for you on your own, also look for the nice international hotels, there are hilton hotels in abuja and lagos, just google it. hope that helps
i found this website when i was googling,

Honestly, it's difficult to enjoy the Delta area because it's in bad shape lately. I wouldn't recommend traveling there alone. It's best to visit that area if you have someone to stay with. I grew up there and even now, wouldn't go alone.

Someone else recommended Lagos but Lagos is perhaps even more dangerous, unless you have a friend to show you around. However, parts of Lagos are very beautiful and Abuja has, of late, become a metropolitan center of business and tourism. I'd say Abuja's your best bet.

    Good luck. :-)

I don't really reccommed staying in Delta, but visiting it is okay. You can take a drive from Lagos or Abuja and go sightseeing! A highly recommended hotel in Nigeria is Stopover Hotel, or a Marriott. You can go by yourself, or with some others, either one. Otherwise, have fun!!!

    PS- Take a fan!!!
