Places to visit in the Netherlands?

I have a business meeting in Rotterdam on Tuesday and I've arranged to fly out on Saturday (arriving at Rotterdam airport mid-morning) so that I can see some of the country while I'm there.

I've been to Rotterdam before, and Amsterdam (but not for years) and a lovely little place called Delft.

Where else can I go, and what should I see? If I can't think of anywhere else I'll go to Amsterdam, but there must be other places - places that maybe I wouldn't otherwise make a special trip just to see.

I will be using public transport, and wherever I end up at the end of each day needs to be somewhere where I will be able to find a cheap-ish hotel easily. I need to be back in Rotterdam late afternoon on Monday.

I like stuff like castles, historic towns, countryside/woodland walks, but also happy to sit and soak up the atmosphere in some little town square.

(Also, if you live in NL, what's the weather forecast for this weekend?)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I lived in Amsterdam next to the schepvaart museum...the ship museum. my favorite places to visit are vondel park, museum isle, rotterdam's bridge, the large skate park in the city center...try taking the train from amsterdam to Haarlem get off at the last stop in Haarlem and walk to the beach it is most beautiful. or visit zeeland (sealand), in the very southern tip of the Netherlands, I travelled there by train, then by bus, get off and go spulunking in your clogs, there's even an old outlook that overlooks the entire town.

den haag and utretch are ok but i recommend taking the train east...to Enschede...its an older town, quiet but there are beautiful country gardens and parks that are tranquil. i loved it there. oh, and visit Gronigen...the northern most tip of the country, the tide and ebbs flow.

good luck.
