Madeleine exploitation,too much coverage?

We all know the amount of attention this case is recieving, and i am aware that there are countless other children missing. But perhaps her parents are aware that these cases rarely make headlines for more than a week or so,maybe we should be questioning why other parents of missing kids arn't keeping themselves in the media, and not the McCanns.

Additional Details

I don't think the media attention is too much,i am saying that the McCanns are doing something that's never been done by any missing kids parents. Although they were at fault for leaving them.

It is a shame the same can't be done for all the other missing kids but let's not knock what people are doing for Maddie

She isn't getting too much coverage, she's getting the right amount for a missing child. It's sad that not all missing children get this much media attention, Madeleine should be made an example of and from now an any children that go missing should get the same media coverage as she's getting.

It's a shame Madeleine is missing, but the bigger shame is that her M.D. parents are the reason she was able to be kidnapped.

They should lose their other two children to social services and put in jail.

Good question, maybe(I expect thumbs down for this) The McCanns feel guilty in the fact that they left their kids alone for an evening, although they did make regular checks!

maybe the case has received an exceptional amount of media attention - however if it was your child I am sure you would want the same if it helps to bring her back safely

People who think that their children should be taken in to care are not thinking of whats best for the children they are thinking about punishing the parents. They need to be together as a family unit. The kids are clearly cared for they made a tragic mistake and they are being punished enough.

Actually profile cases that spark media attention get reported on news and not every case. The missing persons org says 60,000 have been reported missing and alot of them will turn up but some are never found.
Then those people are reported when there bodies are found in rivers or decapitated or the parents fly into the foreign country to locate them.

Look at the families who lost their children in macabre deaths in Japan .. blackman and hawkers.

The McCanns media foray seems like a picnic compared to when and how other cases recieve attention in the media.

Or do you think they are clever and have done this all alone?

Somebody has already raised the point that theindustry rapid donation to find the girl has exceeed those for disasters and will haev a damaging effect on charities who rely on the genrosity of many people for thier funds.

If people are treated unfairly there will be more alienation and more sceptism about the nature of charity and giving.

All this attention is detracting from anything about the other missing children. Anyone know how many children have gone missing in the UK since this happened?

All the attention is on one missing child and the rest are being ignored. All the charity donations are going to a family who don't need it and not to those who do. And it isn't a charity, it is for whatever the parents want to do with it and at the moment that is an extended vacation with trips all over the world.

I think that there is so much publicity which we are not familiar with for just one child.

I agree with the opinion that thousands of children die and go missing and they all deserve publicity, but I would also like MY CHILD to have such publicity EVERY DAY UNTIL I FIND HER/HIM.

I don’t care if the public and the media slay me, As long as my child’s name and face is out their in the public eye. When it comes to a missing child- there is no such thing as bad publicity

Everyone is blaming the parents for leaving their kids alone in the hotel room, but why shouldn't they?

We should be able to leave our kids playing happily in the garden, sleeping in their beds without the fear of someone taking them away.

That's the problem with this world, too bloody soft with the criminal and not enough care and help for the victims.

Why don't you all start blaming the basta*d who took her instead.
