Hotels in Kyoto?

Question

I'm taking 16 students to Kyoto in September and we are unable to ge a booking at our usual hotel - the New Miyako. Our travel agent has suggested the following hotels instead: Hotel Centnovum or the New Hankyu Kyoto. Has anyone stayed at either of these hotels? Can you suggets another hotel close to Kyoto station?

I don't understand why you are hesitative about staying those two hotels.

Hotel Centnovum
New Hankyu Kyoto

Both of them are located in front of the Kyoto station. I can say they are better than New Miyako. Personally, I recommend "Hotel Centnovum". (feel slightly luxury)

My other half spent most of last year working out of Kyoto - I'm sure he'd know, I'll try and remember to ask him in the morning (don't think he'd appreciate being woken up at this time of the morning). Oh - and I'm answering this now so that I can find the question again in my list later!

Ok - he's awake! He has stayed at the New Hankyu and said it was absolutely fine - wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. He said it was always pretty much booked up , so presumably is quite popular. He knows of the Centnovum, but hasn't been inside or stopped there.

I don't know the Centnovum, but the New Hankyu Hotel is located in front of Jr Kyoto Station, 3 kilometres from the city centre and 40kms from the airport :

The ANA Hotel Kyoto is approx. 10minutes by car from JR Kyoto station and one minutes walk from subway Tozai-line's Nijojo-mae station. There is a free shuttle bus from JR Kyoto station to the hotel:

Other hotels that are close to Kyoto Station are the Hotel Granavia Kyoto, and 2 others that can be found at: http://www.kid97.co.jp/st-kyoto/

And i know there is a map somewhere that shows all hotels and their proximity to Kyoto Station. Somewhere...sorry I can't help much more.
