Need rented accomodation urgently?

Question

We may have to leave our rented house by the end of April, and i want to know if there are any companies that would take us in , with us having a poor credit rating. If we apply to the council, there is a waiting list. So basically we could be on the street by May. Estate Agents wont take us on.

if you are in the uk you can look in the free paper there are usually plenty of homes for rent

the only way you can get accomodation as soon as possible is to show the council or housing assosiation a letter from your landlord saying that you have to move out. They cant just throw you out, they have to give you notice, a month or two. If the landlord is threatening to throw you out, tell him he has to give you notice and a letter saying this, then when you recieve the letter (your notice starts on the day you recieve the letter or a date he has stated) show your council and they will have to rehouse you. It doesnt matter about your credit history, the council have t rehouse you as you will be classed as homeless

The first thing you must do is register with the council. This will automatically register with the Housing Associations in your area.
If you have a family you will be given bed and breakfast at a push. Unfortunately due to general incompetence in some town halls and DWP offices, you could find yourself on the streets.
Contact the housing unit immediately, and ask for a list of accredited landlords. These are private landlords whose properties have been vetted by the council as safe.I.E. gas safety checks etc. They will also accept housing benefit.
Some councils will pay the deposit for you, if not, you can ask for a loan from the DWP to pay it. You do not need to be claiming benefits to qualify for a Crisis Loan.
The main thing to do, if you haven't done it already, is to get your name on the housing list.
