MYRTLE BEACH..........Anyone been there?

I fancy a holiday in Myrtle Beach. I usually go to Orlando and do all the Disney stuff but am bored of it now. I need a change of destination. I like theme and water parks and shopping and would like to stay on a beach. Are there any realy superb 5 star resort style hotels there? Any info would be appreciated.

I've been to Myrtle Beach 3 times, all within the past two years. I don't know of any 5 star resorts there, however there are a few 4 star resorts. Just go to Travelocity or AAA to find one.
Depends on what you are looking for is where to stay. You definitely want to stay on a resort on the beach. If you like the nightlife with lots of people stay in downtown myrtle beach, if you want a little bit more relaxed stay north of the town by a few miles.
Myrtle is very touristy/cheezy. We like it because it has VERY nice beaches, however if you're bored with Disney I'd think of staying away. Just down the road is Charleston, SC & Hilton Head Island. You CAN find five star resorts at both of those cities, they are both much nicer, and less crowded. Hilton Head has a beautiful beach, and is just meant as a place to relax. Charleston has the beautiful historic city and tons to do.
Unless you just live on the beach all day you'll probably get bored of Hilton Head after four or five days, Charleston you can do for weeks without getting bored.
